SOBRE NOSOTROS

About us

Emuna is a Spanish institution dedicated to managing the Jewish cemetery of La Cabrera (Madrid), safeguarding the values of the Jewish people and complying with all the laws and traditions, within the framework of the Masorti movement.

This Jewish cemetery is inclusive. A cemetery where Jews, by birth or by conversion (Orthodox, Masorti, or Reform), regardless of their religious affiliation, can find respite, rest, and blessing.

We deeply believe that being close to those who taught us to be who we are is honoring life. That's why our mission is to offer this special space in the moments when we come together to pay tribute to those who hold a special place in our hearts. A place where nature, the landscape, and the warmth of the service give the members of the Community the peace they need.

The graves meet all the requirements of the laws and traditions of Judaism as established by the European Masorti rabbinical court.

Services

In the thought of the Jewish People, death is considered a corridor that leads to another life, another world to come “Olam Haba” where man is judged and his soul continues to flourish “All Israel has a share in the world to come” (Mishna Sanhedrin 11:1).

Jewish religious laws and practices regarding death and mourning are based on two principles: Kibud Hamet , the honoring and respecting of a human being even in death, and Nichum Avelim , the emotional and spiritual support of the grieving.

The Havra Kadisha provides this accompaniment in a very warm and humane manner.

Forecast

The Torah teaches us that "Abraham sought a special place, separate from the rest, to bury his wife Sarah and ordered that he himself be buried there, Machpelah. From then on, the concept of a separate place for eternal rest would be a constant in the culture of Israel."

EMUNA

Emunah

Emuna in Hebrew is the feminine form of Emet, which means truth. That is, someone with emunah is someone who does not stray from the path of truth.

The word Emunah contains within itself other Hebrew words that hold many values:

Emuná אמונה means Faith, but Emun אמון means Trust, which is a more earthly aspect of faith.

Oman אומן means Artist and Imun אימון means Training, every artist needs a lot of training to perform his art.

And Amen אמן which means If, So Be It, True, Certain is currently the universal way in which prayers are concluded in monotheistic religions.
